Sunshine Coast Club Committees Workshop
Noosa and Sunshine Coast workshop for grass roots club committees
Noosa and Sunshine Coast sports communities are being encouraged to take advantage of the Bligh Government's free Club Committees workshop being held on Wednesday, 8 September.
Sport Minister Phil Reeves said the workshop will be targeted towards sporting clubs, administrators, instructors, coaches and volunteers.
"It will provide information on the role of a sporting club's board and management in relation to a range of operational and administrative topics," Mr Reeves said.
"This is a great opportunity for the local sports community to increase and share their knowledge and contribute to the development of sport and recreation in the region."
The Club Committees workshop will feature presentations and good practice methods for club committee members, promoting discussion and sharing of ideas on:
* Legal obligations as a volunteer committee member;
* Roles and responsibilities;
* Financial monitoring;
* Strategic planning;
* Evaluating club committees performance; and
* Techniques and tools for recruiting new committee members and volunteers
Mr Reeves said one of the targets in the Bligh Government's blueprint for the next decade, Toward Q2: Tomorrow's Queensland, is to help Queenslanders become Australia's healthiest people by 2020.
"This is why we continue to provide support for programs, projects and facilities which help people of all ages participate in sport and active recreation," he said.
"We're committed to developing more opportunities for Queenslanders to get involved in sport and recreation activities, and I encourage anyone involved in sport to take advantage of this great opportunity and register to attend this valuable workshop."
