The Boy From Oz
Boy From Oz performs at National Music Muster
The National Music Muster is excitedly anticipating the Australian
production of The Boy From Oz, as the second major theatre act to
appear at the annual event since its inception in 1982.
Following the outstanding success of the first on-site theatre
production of Grease in 2007, the Music Muster will host another
internationally renowned production, The Boy From Oz, on stage from the
27th to the 29th of August.
"The Muster is an incredibly diverse festival, each year there is a
showcase of genres including blues, comedy, rock, and country but
theatre brings a completely different element to the event," Marketing
Coordinator Jarryd Townson said.
The energetic and lively presentation of the Boy From Oz showcases the
life of extraordinary and flamboyant singer and dancer Peter Allen,
through an array of glittered, sparkled and sequined costume designs.
The show follows Peter's humble beginning in the great Australian bush
to his rise to stardom as an international superstar living a life of
fame and fortune.
Peter Allen is fondly known for his songs including, 'Don't Cry Out
Loud', 'Everything Old Is New Again', 'I Honestly Love You', 'I Go To
Rio', 'Tenterfield Saddler', and the beloved ballad, 'I Still Call
Australia Home'.
Dale Pengelly, an internationally renowned musical/theatre cabaret
performer played the understudy and lead of Peter Allen in the original
Boy From Oz in 1998 and is taking the lead-role again, during the
annual Music Muster this August in Amamoor.
He has a career that spans across national and internationally stages,
holding principal and leading roles in over 22 productions such as
Hello Dolly, Chicago the Musical, Singing in the Rain and more
recently, in the acclaimed national tour of Saturday Night Fever and
Shout.
Dale's talent as a singer and dancer has seen him not only have guest
appearances in shows such as 'Hey, Hey It's Saturday', 'The Ray Martin
Show' and 'TV Week Logies' but also become a principal dancer with the
Queensland Ballet, the Sydney Dance Company and the Royal New Zealand
Ballet.
Brian Sansom, Muster Coordinator said that the Boy From Oz would be an
exciting act at the Muster and Muster patrons will need to secure their
seats as soon as they purchase their Muster Tickets, to ensure they
don't miss out.
The 2009 Muster is on from the 25th to the 30th of August at Amamoor
