Up the Tiber without a Toga
Your chance to be part of a unique world premiere event
Are you a singer who acts and can dance? Would you relish the chance to be directed by the London stage director who was the artistic co-ordinator Andrew Lloyd Webber's production of Cats? Not to mention the experience of a lifetime - performing on stage alongside international tenor Chris Fennessy, accompanied by the Brisbane Chamber Orchestra? Then don't miss auditions for the new musical comedy Up the Tiber without a Toga, to be performed in October at the Caloundra Events Centre. Starring Chris Fennessy in the lead as Marcus Anthony, now is the time for you to register for auditions for this spectacular world premiere show. This is a wonderful and unique opportunity for Sunshine Coast performers to shine in a delicious musical romp, set in ancient Rome, whilst contributing to an established, world-wide charity -- all in one special event.
Said musical director Paul Coppens: "We know that there is a huge pool of performing arts talent on the Sunshine Coast; we are auditioning for numerous solo and chorus parts, so if you want to gain invaluable experience, and fancy yourself in a toga - then let us hear from you."
Auditions will take place on 12th and 13th June at the Caloundra Events Centre -- you can find specifications for each role, and register for audition on the show's website at www.upthetiber.com.au/audition
Here is your chance to work with a professional and talented production team; the stage director/choreographer is Virginia Mason (the London stage director and choreographer for Andrew Lloyd Webber's production of Cats). Chris Fennessy sang the role of Jean Valjean in over 2000 performances of the West End production of Les Miserables. International concertmaster and conductor Spiros Rantos will be leading the Brisbane Chamber Orchestra for the performances.
The musical is a collaboration from John Cundill and Paul Coppens. John is a TV scriptwriter, playwright and award-winning journalist, Paul is a widely respected conductor and musical director, whose credits include the Aida Spectacular, the Anzac Military Tattoo and Rudolph Nureyev's international tours. Both are dedicating their time, talents and funds generated from the premiere season of their new work to a great cause -- the profits from the show will be donated to Rotary international humanitarian programmes via recognised charities The Rotary Foundation and Rotary Australia World Community Service. All money raised will be used to fund essential global health, education and poverty reduction programs, such as 'Polio Plus' and 'Rotary Against Malaria' -- successful programs tackling diseases that affect the lives of hundreds of thousands of people in the world today.
If you would like to be a part of this special partnership between the performing arts and a major world-wide charity, register your interest now and check out full details at www.upthe tiber.com.au
The show will be held at the Caloundra Events Centre
