STEAM TRAIN RIDES EVERY SATURDAY...

Sunshine Coast residents can now ride the steam trains every Saturday on the "Valley Rattler" (the Mary Valley Heritage Railway) between Gympie, Dagun and Amamoor and return along the very scenic Mary Valley.

Trains are currently being hauled by the newly renovated Class C17 locomotive # 967, that was built in 1950 by Walkers in Maryborough, together with the "Rattler" heritage carriages some of which date back to 1909.

Every Saturday there are two departures ex Gympie and one departure ex Dagun.

Departing Gympie (Old Station) 9.30 am and 1.45 pm
Arriving back " 12.15 pm and 4.45 pm

Departing Amamoor 11.15 am
Arriving back " 2.45 pm

Departing Dagun 11.30 am
Arriving back " 3.15 pm

The 9.30 am train travels to Amamoor where passengers can see the locomotive turned on the turntable ready for the return to Gympie and also have refreshments and visit the craft shop at the Amamoor station.

In the afternoon the 1.45pm train travels to Amamoor where passengers can see the locomotive turned on the turntable ready for the return to Gympie and then the train travels to Dagun where there is stop to enjoy wine and cheese tasting as well as many other locally made valley produce.

The return fares are:
$24.50 per adult
Students/Age pensions/seniors $21.00
Child - 1 child FREE per fare paying adult (or $12.00 for additional children)
CLUB CAR - $12 per person extra ($36.50 per adult fare/ supplement combined)

Children's birthday parties - the railway can also cater for that special birthday party either at Amamoor Station or at the Gympie Station.
