As you all know, we rely on Volunteers very heavily in Regional & Rural areas, so please take a moment to consider what they give up for us and assist them in their endeavours. Keep your homes Fire and Storm Safe, alert the authorities at the slightest sign of danger, If you have Firebreaks near your home, don't wait for someone else to keep them maintained, find out what your responsibilities are, with storms, don't leave your furniture, pot plants etc out, just begging to become missiles for others property, clear those gutters, and basically just be aware. We all love our Beaches, Outdoor Activities, but you have to take the good with the bad and a little "self responsibility", and "old fashioned common sense", will make the jobs of our Firefighters, SES Volunteers, Rural Fireys and the many other silent volunteers a lot easier. It also would not hurt to say thank you next time you see one of your volunteers strolling down the street :)

We would love to put your advice up on our "Community News" and hopefully your words of wisdom may avert heartbreak for someone who was not prepared or is new to our area and may be unaware of some of the dangers we can have here in our Paradise...
