"Pull your hair out, it's Christmas!"
This must be the busiest time of year. Personally it is busy as we all try to get work finished, get those gifts, organise the lunch, argue with relatives over who is having what, where, how, why & when... I don't know about you, but is almost enough to skip it if you could?
Onsite it is flat-out, with over 60,000 visitors per month now, this time of year really maxes out with the Christmas Questions from visitors and locals alike, they range from what Carols are on where, to what fireworks are on so they can be warned if they have pets... Please, if you are organising a Community Event for Christmas & New Year, please let me know if you haven't already. Same with any fundraisers, gift collection centres, or even if you need some volunteers to help over this period, always let me know as we have people asking, wanting info, and also offering their services.
I know that all the stress of Christmas can sometimes get you down, make you cranky and the expense... (We won't even go there) BUT sometimes it doesn't hurt to actually just 'STOP', take stock of the chaos and just simplify life a little. A few years ago my sister came home from London for Christmas, it was a big deal, everyone excited having the family together for the first time in forever, lot's of preparation etc. and you know what the nicest thing was? Just floating around the pool after Gifts had been given, and having a casual drink & chat, a really good reminder about what Christmas should really be. It shouldn't be a time of year that stresses you out and keeps you awake at night trying to co-ordinate parties, gifts, relatives, work deadlines, wondering if the credit card will self-combust...
Please, our wish for you this Christmas, is that you take some time-out, de-stress, celebrate how lucky you are, take the family to some of the great happenings on around the Coast, basically, have the best Christmas that you can, simplify it all, and remember to include 'yourself'. Christmas is all about giving, so give yourself a Break too!
Best Wishes, Noely, Community Site Co-ordinator
