Bad Behaviour in Sport!
The so called 'Professional' footballers like poor Joey Johns who's behaviour is 'acceptable' due to all the pressure the poor bloke is under, (yes, the sarcasm is dripping). Drugs in particular, man, in our 'real life' you would either be sacked, sued, criminally prosecuted, or all of the above? Any Sportsman earning the big bikkies knows they are role models for kids, it is why they get all the sponsorship, and every parent watching the local kids running around the cul de sac fighting over who will be Andrew Johns, Carmichael Hunt or Andrew Voss and of course forks out the money for the merchandise is very aware of it! My biggest issue here is the fact that they are allowed to get away with it thanks to the officials of the sporting codes.
Officials and their behaviour is an issue. Yes, parents can sometimes behave badly at weekend sport, though with the juggle parents have with working, time to get to the sport, not to mention paying a fortune for kids to even play sport (that is an issue for another day),etc. and you can understand how an 'official' and their behaviour can push a parent over the edge. I don't condone abusing referees, though I have to admit, some officials with their cliques, and high handed behaviour and self-importance can drive you insane. Take a recent junior netball game, one coach (the win at all costs type) took issue in regard to uniform and sign ons (all was fine), officials called in, kids standing around in the sun for ages waiting to play, the official bickering was a farce & terribly unfair to the kids on both teams, setting an awful example as to what sport is all about.
This brings me back to my original point. Do you think a lot of these sportsman in the news recently would have committed these transgressions if it was not tolerated by 'officials' higher in the game who are more concerned about sponsorship and their own 'exalted' positions in running the game? We need officials in sport, committee organisers, coaches, umpires and volunteers. Most officials give up a heap of time, work hard just for the love of sport and the pleasure of seeing young kids running around enjoying themselves, I know a few coaches that fit this bill perfectly. My plea is that officials set the standard themselves too, be fair to all, apply rules evenly and NEVER tolerate bad behaviour, that way we will have a future of healthy fit kids, loving sport for life, being future role models with lessons inspired by great example both ON & OFF the field.

"Musicals" Coast News Giveaway from one end of the Coast to the Other!
Live Theatre Ticket giveaways are always popular here onsite and this time we have two very different musicals, " The Mikado" & " Now That’s Entertainment" at either end of the Coast, Caloundra & Noosa especially for our ' Coast News' members.
The Mikado is being presented by the very talented people from the Caloundra Chorale & Theatre Co. and will be performed at the Caloundra Cultural Centre 6 to 10 September. If you have not see this popular Gilbert and Sullivan classic, then put your name in the 'The Hat' and put "The Mikado" in the subject line.
Noosa Arts Theatre is renowned for its wonderful musicals and Now That’s Entertainment is continuing this great tradition in the most lavish style possible. If you would like to sit back and be entertained on the 21st of September with great classics from the late 50's Night Club era, then toss your name in the 'The Hat' and put "Now That’s Entertainment" in the subject line.
Congratulations to 'Rose' on her name being drawn out of a very very full hat as the winner of the EverEscents Thank you Giveaway!, courtesy of the lovely Leone from EverEscents Organic Hair Care.
